Executive Chef

The executive chef position is a key role with the responsibility of establishing with the owners the direction of food style, menus, kitchen management, food ordering, menu costing, and leadership across the company.

Farrand Hall prides itself on being one of the best places in the Midwest for dining. Brining in Michelin and JBF level chefs throughout the year for our popular guest chef series.

We host multi course communal dinners Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for 20-50 guests. Some brunches. High end private events and some weddings.

Required experience:

5 years in an executive level role at a higher end restaurant, catering company, or private chef.

Characteristics that are non negotiable:

Must be a team player, kind and humble. Open to constructive criticism and input from all team members. Collaborative in nature. No ego. Willing to wash dishes when needed. Must enjoy working with chefs from all over the country. Must love to clean and is highly detail oriented. Highly creative and willing to push boundaries.

Chef is a guest facing role and must be able to represent Farrand Hall to the public, with press and through collaborations.

Although the environment is quiet and relaxed, the position still demands attention to detail, service and the work. We will feed thousands of people every year in an idyllic setting.

Starting salary: $80,000

Sous Chef

The sous chef position is the second in command and handles much of the operational items for the kitchen. Including ordering, creating prep lists, managing staff schedules, and working with the entire team on service and plating standards.

The sous chef will assist the Exec Chef on menu development, creativity and execution of the nightly dinner series.

Required experience:

Minimum of 4 years in a sous chef role at a high end restaurant or catering company.

Must be a team player and enjoy collaboration without ego. Willingness to help staff when needed regardless of title or position.

Starting Salary: $60,000

Cooks

We are hiring 2 experienced line cooks for part to full time work.

Must have 2 years consecutive experience in a full service higher end restaurant.

$22/hour. Day time, evening and weekend flexibility.

These position could lead to salaried full time roles.
